Can I reopen a locked period if we find an error?

Yes. Owners and Admins can reopen a locked period if a post-close error is discovered. Reopening unfreezes the period, allowing task statuses to be changed, tasks to be edited, and new tasks to be added if necessary.

Reopening a period is logged in the organization's audit history, including who reopened it and when. This creates a clear trail for auditors — they can see that the period was locked, reopened for a specific correction, and re-locked.

We recommend adding a note or comment to the affected tasks explaining why the period was reopened, so the audit trail is self-documenting. Once the corrections are made and all tasks are back to Approved, you can lock the period again.
