What does the dashboard show me during an active close?

The dashboard gives you a real-time view of where your close stands. It's built around configurable tiles that you can show, hide, and reorder to match how your team thinks about the close.

Overall Progress is the headline tile. It shows a donut chart and legend that split every task in the current period into groups, each task in exactly one:

• Completed — tasks in Complete status.
• Skipped — tasks marked Skipped (not applicable this period). Shown only when there are some.
• Overdue — any task that is not Complete or Skipped and whose due date has already passed, whatever its status: Prep Pending, Blocked, Pending Review or Pending Approval. A task with no due date is never overdue.
• Not Started — tasks still in Prep Pending whose due date has not passed (or is not set).
• In Progress — tasks that are Blocked, Pending Review or Pending Approval and whose due date has not passed (or is not set).

The groups always add up to the total task count. The percentage in the center of the donut is the share that are Completed or Skipped.

The key thing to understand is that Overdue takes priority over In Progress and Not Started. If a task is Pending Review but past its due date, it appears under Overdue, not In Progress. So the In Progress and Not Started counts only reflect work that is still on schedule.

Other tiles on the dashboard include Current Close Score (completed percentage), Forecasted Close Date, Days to Close, Early Completion, Tasks by Status (a more detailed status breakdown), Tasks Progress by Category, Tasks Progress by Milestone, Preparation Progress by Person, Late Blockers (overdue tasks that are blocking other tasks), Open for review (tasks awaiting reviewer or approver action), and Top/Bottom tasks.

For controllers and CFOs, the dashboard is the single place to check on close progress. Instead of asking "where are we?" in a meeting or over email, pull up the dashboard and see exactly which tasks are done, which are in flight, and which are blocking the close from being finalized.
