Can I mark a task as not applicable this period?
Yes. If a recurring task genuinely doesn't apply this period — for example, an intercompany elimination task in a month with no intercompany activity — an Owner, Admin, or Manager can mark it Skipped / N-A instead of leaving it incomplete or forcing it through as if it were done.
Open the task and use the status control. You'll be asked for a short reason before the skip is applied — that reason is saved permanently and shows up in the audit-ready PDF export, so anyone reviewing the close later can see why the task didn't happen.
Milestones (the checkpoints your checklist is grouped under, each with its own target date) don't get held up by a skipped task — a milestone still shows complete once every task under it is either done or skipped. A skipped task also unblocks any other tasks that depend on it, exactly the way a real completion would, and it's never flagged as overdue.
If a task was skipped by mistake, an admin can revert it back to Not Started at any time before the period is locked.
