How do I set up my first close period?
After you create your organization in ComplyBar, the first step is to create a close period. Navigate to the scheduling page and create a new period by specifying the period end date and a label (e.g., "May 2026" or "Q2 2026").
Once the period is created, you'll build your close checklist — the list of tasks that need to be completed before the period can be locked. You can add tasks manually, or import them from a spreadsheet if you have an existing checklist. Each task can be assigned to a team member, given a due date, and organized with dependencies so that prerequisite tasks block downstream work.
When the close is done, an Owner or Admin can lock the period, which freezes the checklist and makes the period available for evidence export. Locking isn't gated on every task being Approved — it's a judgment call for the Owner or Admin, and a locked period can always be reopened if something was missed. Most teams can set up their first period and have tasks assigned within 30 minutes.
